hello,
I have problem installing updates to windows xp and microsoft office 2003 proffessional.
Updates are downloaded, but when I click install, it'll take a short while and then it'll write, that some updates weren't installed and lists all updates, which I tried to install.
Do you have any ideas, what to do?

Yep that happens to me too. I don't know what is wrong either though.

the only solution I found was to contact microsoft and explain the issue. they sorted it for me within about half an hour, but it cost £fourty to get it fixed. or you could try self service, and look into the knowledge bases.

I'd never heard of this issue so I did a bit of googling:
start > run > cmd
type
net stop wuauserv
enter
regsvr32 %windir%system32wups2.dll
Ok / yes to all the dialogs
back in cmd, type
net start wuauserv
Restart for good measure
Then let me kno if it worked.

But thanks for trying. Fortunatelly, I installed sp3 four days ago.

First off I say if you have a perfectly good running system don't update it unless absolutely necessary. Although there is a very convenient tool that will download all the updates for an operating system and put them in a iso so you can install them across a lan or you can install them at a later date. it is called ctupdate408.zip. it will allow you to also download office updates as well.

thanks, I'll probably use it.
Because I'm using backup utility from HP.
It's great thing - It saved me everytime when I overexperimented my computer.
But I have a backup of just installed windows and some programs - only to save hdr space.
So this utility will help me too.
